The fourth annual Leaders Overcoming Gender Inequality in Chemistry (LOGIC) conference will be held on May 23 and 24th, 2020 at the University of Winnipeg. Organized by the Canadian Women in Chemistry (CWIC) Network, the two-day retreat focuses on issues “Beyond the Visible Spectrum” - educating attendees and providing strategies to overcome invisible barriers faced by minoritized groups. With seminars from leaders in chemistry and equity fields (Dr. Jess Wade, Ana Sofia Barrows, Dr. James Gauld, Dr. Vanessa Sung, Nimrat Obhi, and Dr. Rebecca Melen), workshops which provide training on how to write EDI statements (Dr. Lisa Willis) and how to engage allies (Catalyst), panel discussions with the local chemical industry, we focus on positive and productive outcomes to inclusivity issues faced in the chemical sciences. Additionally, there will be plenty of networking opportunities with attendees and presenters due to the familial nature of the conference. If you are interested in presenting your efforts that contribute to the chemistry community outside of research, abstract submission is now open.
Registration cost is $60 for students/postdocs and $90 for professionals. However, there is an application process for registration sponsorship if the cost is prohibitive.
More information about the conference can be found on the LOGIC website.
